I am a student, should I request an absentee ballot for my home or school address?
This is entirely up to you! You can register either at your home address or your school address.
Here are some things to think about when deciding whether to use your home or school address to vote:
What is most convenient for you and if you would like to vote by mail or in person. To register at an address, you must be a Michigan resident (at the time you register) and a resident of your city or township for at least 30 days (when you vote).
If you do decide to register at an address that is different than what is listed on your driver’s license, be aware that any change to your voter registration address will automatically update the state’s records for your driver’s license address as well. You will receive a sticker in the mail to update the address on your license.
If you change your address and are voting by absentee ballot, you must do so early enough for the clerk to make the change before the absentee ballots are mailed to voters.
