Earlier on Monday, The New York Times reported on allegations from a federal whistleblower that US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) officials directed personnel to use voter registration and citizenship data to identify and investigate individuals accused of being noncitizen voters, including naturalized US citizens.
In response, League CEO Celina Stewart issued a statement, saying in part: “If these reports are true, this is not merely alarming. It is a five-alarm fire for American democracy.”
